Shred-it Springfield opened Jan. 3 in an 1,800-square-foot office at 1550 E. Florida. Branch manager Kendra Johnson Darnell said that Robert Boyer, franchisee for the Ontario-based company, also owns locations in Kansas City, Salt Lake City, and Boise, Idaho. A mobile shredder in a 32-foot truck destroys clients’ documents on-site. Darnell declined to disclose the name of the landlord or the terms of the lease, but according to the Greene County Assessor’s Web site, the property is owned by Gross Family Investors LLC. Hours are 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Gourmet Paw Barkery & Flea Market and Gone Nuts For You LLC opened Jan. 31 at 3830 S. Lone Pine, Ste. C. Husband-and-wife Cory Ownby and April Johnson-Ownby own Gourmet Paw Barkery & Flea Market, where dog treats are baked daily in an on-site kitchen. Pet-related products also are available. Johnson-Ownby’s mother, Pat Johnson, opened Gone Nuts For You within their 1,000-square-foot store, where she sells roasted cinnamon-glazed almonds, pecans and cashews. The space is leased from Sam Watts for an undisclosed amount. The lease is for one year, said Ownby, who also runs Ownby Associates Landscape Architecture & Planning from the location. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
Lighthouse Career Academy School of Cosmetology opened a second location Jan. 18 at The Shoppes at Branson Meadows, 4562 Gretna Road, Ste. 4720, in Branson. Owner Jerree Winn said that the first location, in Harrison, Ark., opened in February 2004. Courses of study take between 10 weeks and 10 months to complete. Winn teaches two days a week in Branson and three days a week in Harrison, and she is assisted by three full-time instructors and one part-time employee in Branson. She leases 5,100 square feet from Chelsea Property Group but declined to share the terms of the lease. Beginning March 1, students will offer services to the public 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday. The school is open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
