Scrivener Oil Co. opened its ninth Signal Food Store March 9 at 2810 E. Battlefield in Half-A-Hill Center. The 2,200-square-foot storefront with eight gas pumps was one of four Missouri Git-n-Go stores not purchased by Kum & Go following Git-n-Go’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January 2004. Sean Bumgarner, retail coordinator for Scrivener Oil Co., said the store has one part-time and six full-time employees. There is one location in Nixa, two in Springfield and six others in surrounding areas. Signal Food Store is open 6 a.m–midnight daily.
The Spa’t, owned by Shane Cole and Angie Toben, opened Feb. 1 at 619 S. Glenstone. Cole said the salon, which has eight full-time employees, provides hair and nail services. There is a licensed massage therapist and an esthetician on staff. Cole and Toben signed a three-year lease for an undisclosed amount with Mark Harrell of Plaza Realty. Hours are by appointment.
Express Personnel Services opened Jan. 27 at 12 Downing St. in Hollister. Franchisee Chrissy Williamson said that she and business partner Cheryl Ratterree serve four Missouri counties – Taney, Stone, Barry and Lawrence, with the exception of Monett, which is served by franchisee Sharon Snow’s Springfield office. The Hollister office also serves Carroll and Boone counties in Arkansas. Williamson and Ratterree, the only employees, lease the 1,250-square-foot office in Hollister’s historic district for an undisclosed amount. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday by appointment.
Ted and Cheryl Carter relocated Lil Rascals Resale March 1 to 4155 S. Scenic Ave. The consignment shop, which sells children’s and maternity clothing, operated for a year from 800 square feet at 412 Public Ave., Ste. D, in Clever, Cheryl Carter said. The Carters, who have no employees, signed a one-year lease with Jack and Lola Krueger for the 1,200-square-foot storefront. Hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.
