Adoption For Families opened Jan. 1 at 318 Park Central East, Ste. 420, in the McDaniel Building. Susie Wampler, a licensed clinical social worker, originally opened the business in 1987 as Adoption By Family Therapy and then relocated to Kimberling City in 1998. Wampler employs three part-time social workers to help facilitate international adoptions, home studies for people adopting through other agencies and training for foster and adoptive parents for the state of Missouri. Adoption For Families is both a for-profit and a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. The 501(c)3 status was added due to regulations for China adoptions and Wampler’s desire to raise funds for families that couldn’t afford to adopt, she said. Office hours are by appointment.
