G Floyd Custom Clothiers opened March 15 in a Springfield home-based office. Gary Floyd provides image consulting and fits clients with high-end custom clothing from manufacturers that are not available through other sources in the area. “For a fee, I’ll come in to the top management and decide exactly what it is they should wear for the position they’re in, and then completely take charge of their closet for pictures in their annual report, the best presentation in case there is a court issue (or) the warm colors for dealing with personnel and building synergy,” Floyd said. Shelly Griese became an independent consultant June 19 for Big Yellow Box by Crayola. The direct-sales company, owned by Hallmark subsidiary Binney-Smith, was launched in 2002 and has 1,400 independent consultants nationwide. Griese conducts in-home demonstrations and sells craft kits for ages 3 and older, including kits for adults. “Big Yellow Box projects can be a valuable family time and create treasures that will bring back those memories for years,” said Griese, who is the sole employee at her home-based business. Doug and Jennifer Feller opened Uptown Shoes June 13 at 1330 E. Republic Road in James River Place. Jennifer Feller manages three part-time workers at the 1,800-square-foot storefront, which carries Kenneth Cole, Allen-Edmonds and Diego Sans for men, and Charles David, Chinese Laundry, Go Max, Hobo and Lazaro for women. The store also carries handbags, accessories, belts and home fragrances. Doug Feller also owns two Paradise Sun Tanning Salons and Priority Towing Service in Springfield. Uptown Shoes’ hours are 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday.
