Penmac Workforce Development Center, 431 S. Patton, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 9 with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. The center's objective is two-fold: Train future workers and educate employers on how to keep them. Tony Moore is the center's director. The center has been serving Penmac workers since late July. It features mentoring programs demonstrating retention practices to business clients. Up to 30 workers can be taught at one time in the main classroom.
