Jacinda's Sweets, a special-order bakery offering a variety of items including cakes, pies, cookies, candies and breads, opened for business in November 1999 at 1330 E. Cherry, Ste. K. Jacinda Curtis, owner, graduated from the California Culinary Academy-San Francisco. She has worked at the Lodge of Four Seasons at Lake Ozark and was pastry chef and baker at Hickory Hills Country Club. Jacinda's is capable of handling parties of up to 600 people. Jacinda's Sweets also has a partnership with Season's Tearoom & Gift Boutique, 937 E. Walnut, to create a gourmet menu including luncheon entrees, pastries and catering for on-site group events.|ret||ret||tab|

Fastsigns doubles size, adds new equipment|ret||ret||tab|

Fastsigns, 610 E. Battlefield, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Nov. 16. The sign and graphic company's local office is owned by John Durbin. The store has been renovated to double the size of the facility, add new computers, new graphics production equipment and a large showroom.|ret||ret||tab|

Expressions in Advertising, 305 E. Walnut No. 318, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 15 with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. The promotional products company offers an array of dimensional products that may be imprinted with company logos. "We try to use a customized approach with each client that will dovetail with their goals and objectives," said Terry Monschein, owner, in a news release. The Gallery House, 3745 S. Cox Road, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce in October. The Gallery House is a specialty shop owned and operated by Joann Starkey and Cindy Moore. It presents special events monthly, including gallery opening receptions featuring resident and guest artists, antique/collectible showcase events and various demonstrations.|ret||ret||tab|
