Tropical Breezes is open for business at 1730 E. Republic Road. Owners Char-lene Gier, Janene Prow and Ainsworth Williams, who's also chef, offer Jamaican cuisine such as jerk chicken, curry dishes and shrimp stir-fry at their eatery, which is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Other menu items are fresh fruit smoothies, organic juices, vegetarian dishes and homemade desserts. The caf also is available after regular hours for private parties.
State Farm Insurance has opened a new office at 330 W. Plainview Road, Ste. F. Agent Frank Orellana works with a staff of three Trudy Twitty, Tracie Bruton and Dee Hunt. The office provides auto, fire, life, health and business insurance, as well as several financial services. Orellana's office is open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday and by appointment after hours.
Ted E. Bear's Toy Factory is open for business at 1839 E. Independence St., Ste. W. Ted E. Bear's Toy Factory is owned by Paul and Sheryl Jones and This Way Up LLC, and it allows patrons to stuff their own toys and choose clothes and accessories for them. The store offers stuffed toy kits, and also can be used as an activity site for birthday parties. Ted E. Bear's Toy Factory is open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
