Wheeler's Furniture Downtown opened a south-side location Aug. 29. Wheeler's Furniture South, at 3861 South Ave., adds interior design services and new manufacturing lines to the long-time downtown retailer's repertoire, said store manager Gregg Bennett (pictured). "We were busting at the seams downtown," he said. "We just had no space" for the new furniture lines. The interior design focus is mainly on residential work, but commercial design also is available, Bennett added. Wheeler's Furniture South is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday and Friday; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. There are 12 employees.|ret||ret||tab|

Sonshine Gardens, a new independent living complex, opened Sept. 25 at 300 S. Cottonwood Ave. in Republic. Sonshine Gardens is affiliated with and located adjacent to Sonshine Manor nursing home. The two facilities sit on 17 acres in Republic. There will be six units among three duplexes in the first phase of construction set for a mid-October completion, according to John Simmons, owner of Sonshine Gardens LLC and president of Eden Heritage Foundation, which owns Sonshine Manor. Simmons said a total of 12 to 16 living units, renting for $700 each, are planned.|ret||ret||tab|

Nixa-based Peoples Bank of the Ozarks opened its 11th full-service facility at 11892 State Hwy. 13 in Kimberling City May 15. Larry Featherston, senior lending officer, said the bank's other locations are in Lake of the Ozarks, Rogersville, Fordland, Springfield, Clever, Forsyth and Nixa. The drive-through is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. The lobby is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. Peoples Bank of the Ozarks, established in 1917, has more than 150 associates, $214.6 million in total assets and about 30,000 customer accounts.|ret||ret||tab|
