Kathe Love on Oct. 1 opened Hey Bud, a floral and gift store in downtown Springfield. Love employs two and sells flowers, plants, balloons, cards, jewelry, custom dog clothes and candles, and offers wedding consulting out of 1,000 square feet at 210 S. Campbell, next to the former Busy Bee building. “We’re trying to offer a little something for everybody,” said Love, who has 10 years of experience in the floral industry. She offers free delivery and said custom arrangements start at $12.99. Hey Bud is open 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Mussino Tile
Chester and Scott Shortt and Beatrice Mussino on Aug. 1 moved Mussino Distributing of Missouri Inc., better known as Mussino Tile, to a store four times larger than their previous digs. The ceramic, porcelain and natural stone tile wholesaler and retailer left 6,000 square feet at 2414 W. Battlefield for 24,000 square feet of leased space at 3045 S. Scenic. The move cost about $25,000, according to Chester Shortt. Mussino Tile has been doing business in Springfield for 14 years and employs six. Hours are 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday.
Parrino Bros. Pasta Pronto
Jay Parrino on Aug. 8 re-opened Pasta Express at 1933 S. National Ave. as Parrino Bros. Pasta Pronto. The restaurant closed after a March 22 fire. Parrino, who owns Pasta Pronto as part of Alliance Restaurant Management LLC, spent more than $100,000 to refurbish the location, which seats 48. Parrino has a long history of Italian eateries in Springfield, starting J. Parrino’s Pasta House & Bar in Springfield in 1983. According to spokesperson Jeff La Rocca, Pasta Pronto serves pasta, salads, soups and sandwiches for an average meal price of $6.50. Pasta Pronto’s hours are 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
