Extra Innings

Chad Stills opened Extra Innings, an indoor baseball and softball training facility, on Oct. 22 at 1900 W. Sunset, Ste. 100-B. Extra Innings, owned under CDS Holdings LLC, is the Middleton, Mass.-based franchise’s sixth location and first in the Midwest. At the 12,500-square-foot facility, customers can buy baseball equipment or work on hitting, pitching and fielding in one of six 75-foot-long multi-use tunnels or four circuit-training rooms. “Springfield, in general, is a big sports town,” Stills said. “Baseball’s always been very popular, too.” Stills has contracts with seven former collegiate standouts to provide instruction, including former Missouri State University and current minor league baseball players Jason Hart and Brad Ziegler and former Evangel University softball players Wendy Niebuhr and Brandi Dorton. Stills said his customers are usually between the ages of 7 and 17. He said he obtained an undisclosed amount of financing from Old Missouri National Bank. Hours are 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday.

They financed the opening of the franchise store with an undisclosed amount from Southwest Community Bank in Ozark. Hours are 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday.
