417Guns opened Oct. 25 at 5337 S. Campbell, Ste. I, in James River Business Center. Owner Brent Ball began the business 11 months ago, with a
former partner, as a Web-based business at www.417guns.com. Strong sales led Ball to sign a two-year lease for the 1,000-square-foot shop. Ball said that he bought out his partner the first week the shop was open. He is the only employee of the shop, which sells shotguns, rifles, pistols, ammunition and accessories, such as holsters and cleaning supplies. “We cater both to the hunting community and the shooting sports – people that like to compete, people that like to go out and plink on the weekends,” Ball said. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
