LeeAnn Camey opened Art Works Downtown LLC on Sept. 2 at 109 Park Central Square. Art Works, occupying 900 square feet of storefront, sells “one-of-a-kind, unique, three-dimensional works of art” that includes mosaics, stained glass, jewelry and sculptures, according to Camey. Prices range from $2.50 to $600. “I don’t think a shop like this exists in Springfield,” she said. Camey built her startup fund during a six-year stint as a community development specialist for Community Partnership of the Ozarks. Hours are 11 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and during special events such as First Friday Art Walk.
Meal Makers
Kelly Mann and Kari Wilson opened Meal Makers on Nov. 22 at 4728 S. Campbell, Ste. 128, across from the Library Center. The sisters offer prepared food that customers assemble and take home for easy meal preparation, according to Mann. A family-sized Bavarian beef roast with horseradish gravy, for example, is $19. Their store is one of 48 Meal Makers franchise locations, 14 of which are in Missouri. Meal Makers is based in St. Peters. Hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday and by appointment after hours.
Meek Chiropractic
Dr. Gary Meek opened Meek Chiropractic on Oct. 10 at 3014 E. Sunshine, Ste. G. Meek specializes in rehabilitative chiropractic services. He has 11 years of experience in the field and holds a doctor of chiropractic medicine degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City. Typical adjustments cost $35 to $40. Hours are 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.–noon Friday.
