Clay McGee opened a 1-800-Got-Junk? franchise in Springfield on Nov. 14. McGee hauls people's trash away for between $88 and $438. “As long as its non-hazardous and two guys can lift it, we'll come get it,” he said. Sixty percent of the chaff is either donated or recycled, and McGee said he makes no profits from its disposal. McGee said he purchased the entire Springfield territory, joining more than 200 1-800-Got-Junk? franchises in the United States, including Kansas City and St. Louis. Hours: by appointment. Javani Apparel

Tsheten Lama opened Javani Apparel on Aug. 25 in Battlefield Mall, 2825 S. Glenstone Ave. She operates a kiosk near Victoria's Secret, selling handmade jewelry, shoes, tops, skirts, scarves and shawls imported from her native India. Prices range from $6.99 to $60. Cartridge World

Dan and Althea McNeil opened Cartridge World on Dec. 18 at 3305 S. Campbell, Ste. D. The couple sells new computer printer cartridges but emphasizes refilling and reselling previously used cartridges to protect the environment and save customers money. Dan McNeil said customers can save as much as 60 percent by refilling their old cartridges. He said there are more than 1,000 Cartridge World stores in the United States with four more, owned by other franchisees, coming to town this year. J. Renae Grimes sold the tanning half of Tanzz & Rubbzz, a tanning and massage shop, on Nov. 2. She then opened Back Rubbzz Massage Therapy Group, 1712 S. Ingram Mill Road, and Candi MacGill opened Candiz Tanzz & Gifts, 1714 S. Ingram Mill Road. Grimes said a one-hour massage costs $60 with discounts available for frequent customers.
