Bridges For Youth

Director Steve Hare helped open the fifth nonprofit Bridges For Youth Inc. center March 13. The 2143 W. High St. location offers youths age 6 to 16 an after-school destination at no charge. A free meal is served Friday nights and free after-school snacks are provided. The Christian organization receives its funding through private donors. Bridges for Youth also operates centers at 834 N. National Ave., where it was founded in 1994; 1033 W. Nichols; 2236 S. Ingram Mill Road; and at the Family Violence Center, which has an undisclosed address because it’s the only Bridges For Youth center that caters to battered youth. In April, the group also plans to open a location in Marshfield at Cross Bridge Church. Hours: 2:30 p.m.– 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 2:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m. on Friday. Phone: (417) 864-9906.

The Neighborhoods at Quail Creek

Executive Director Michele Brown helped to open Jan. 17 The Neighborhoods at Quail Creek, a long- and short-term care facility. The center’s nursing staff offers care for patients with maladies such as broken hips, Alzheimer’s or strokes. The 72-patient location at 1514 W. Lark is one of about 80 facilities in Missouri, Kansas and Tennessee operated by Sikeston-based Americare Systems Inc. Americare Systems operates four Springfield locations at 4685 S. Robberson Ave., 1950 E. Republic Road and 2828 S. Meadowbrook; one Ozark location at 4449 N. Highway NN; and one Nixa location at 902 N. Main. A long-term stay at The Neighborhoods at Quail Creek averages $5,500 per month. Hours: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Sunday, with 24-hour care provided. Phone: (417) 889-1275.

In Bloom

Jill LeGrand, Tanya Bower and Beth Helmkamp moved In Bloom LLC on Nov. 1. The trio relocated their full-service floral shop to 412 South Ave. after spending their first year at 1701 W. Sunshine, Ste. F, in the Elfindale Center. LeGrand said the move was strictly for style, hoping to tap into downtown’s attitude and foot traffic. Hours: 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon–6 p.m. Saturday. Phone: (417) 864-7373.
