The Butterfly Palace & Rainforest Adventure

Bill and Debi Hill and Bruce and Dianna Herschend opened The Butterfly Palace & Rainforest Adventure on June 2 at 4106 W. State Highway 76. The 18,000-square-foot tourist attraction includes a 20-minute 3-D film about butterflies, a tropical garden filled with more than 1,000 free-flying butterflies, a mirror maze and an insect zoo. The Hills also are opening Branson Family Fun Factory at the end of June at 2400 State Highway 165 in Branson. The Herschends are part of Silver Dollar City’s ownership group, Herschend Family Entertainment Corp., and they also own Talking Rocks Cavern and Wings of the World in Branson West. Ozark Mountain Bank financed the $4 million Butterfly Palace project, according to General Manager Sarah Bolend. Adult tickets are $16.95 and child tickets are $12.95. Hours: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Sunday through Monday. Phone: (417) 332-2231.

People Helping People

Board President Lindy Maus helped relocate nonprofit agency People Helping People of Republic, Missouri Inc. on May 2 to 210 N. Pine St., Republic. People Helping People has a food pantry and donates school supplies and clothing to Republic-area residents. The agency, founded about 20 years ago, was previously located in a city-owned dilapidated barn at 410 Hampton St. City officials asked People Helping People to vacate the barn two years ago because of the structure’s poor condition, Maus said. The 1,800-square-foot free-standing metal building was constructed with the help of donated land, money and services. Hours: 9 a.m.–noon Tuesday. Phone: (417) 732-5464.

Bobcat of Springfield

Paul M. Harrison helped open a second Bobcat of Springfield location on March 20 at 2520 N. Eastgate Ave. The G.W. Van Keppel Co., a Kansas City, Kan.-based dealer of construction and heavy mining equipment, owns the new store, along with 14 others in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas, Harrison said. Bobcat of Springfield has been at 6455 W. Independence Drive, near Interstate 44, since 1984. Harrison is manager for both Springfield stores. The new 10,000-square-foot store carries about 60 Bobcat units, plus attachments. Hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 865-3535.
