Owner/Builder Network

Gary W. Sutherland opened Owner/Builder Network on June 1 at 2047 S. Campbell Ave. Ste. B. Sutherland, the owner and operator of the location, paid $33,000 for franchise rights. Sutherland said the business is as a hands-on consulting firm for individuals who want to a new home. “We’re kind of like the road map to contracting your own home. We help clients through the whole process,” he said. Sutherland begins by talking with clients about their dream homes and then proceeds with financing. The franchise has its own banks. Owner/Builder Network also guides the clients through the step-by-step process of building a home, including helping clients obtain the proper permits. Sutherland rents the 1,500-square-foot office from Hazell Morris. Cost of services is $2.45 per square foot. Hours: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment Saturday. Phone: (417) 888-0400.

CheeZies Pizza

Kevin and Karie Cherry opened a second Springfield CheeZies location on June 19 at 711 W. Kearney. Less than a year since the opening of their first CheeZies location at 603 S. Kimbrough, the couple decided to add a second franchise known for its $4.99 large pizza special. CheeZies also offers breadsticks, specialty pizzas, wings and calzones. Both locations only offer carryout, with an average cost around $6.50. “The concept is to reduce labor, such as only offering a carryout option, and sell pizzas only during prime time, therefore reducing the overall cost,” Kevin Cherry said. Nine employees work at the 1,300-square-foot shop. Cherry rents the space from Helen Gunther. Hours: 11 a.m.–10 p.m. daily. Phone: (417) 831-7070.
