Sylvan Learning Center and Prometric Testing relocated Jan. 2 to 1830 E. Independence Ave. The education companies, both owned by Wichita, Kan.-based Delta Mike of Kansas Inc., shared space at 3259 E. Sunshine, Ste. D, according to Center Director Lissa Raines. Sylvan Learning Center, which Raines said has 157 active clients, provides tutoring for elementary through college-age students. Prometric Testing has 13 computers for a variety of professional certification testing. The companies have 25 staff members combined. Hours: 9 a.m.–8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Phone: (417) 882-0740.
Chick-fil-A
Franchisee Steve Lowery opened Missouri’s second stand-alone Chick-fil-A restaurant Jan. 25 at 3700 S. Glenstone Ave. The other stand-alone location is in Kansas City. This 4,227-square-foot restaurant has 65 employees, seating for 134, a drive-through and an indoor play area. Chick-fil-A began in mall food courts in 1967, but since the mid-1980s has been building mostly stand-alone restaurants. There are now 1,293 restaurants in the chain and about 650 of them are free-standing, said Lowery, who was previously the franchisee for Chick-fil-A in Battlefield Mall. ASI-Modulex Inc.
ASI-Modulex Inc. has entered the Springfield market via sales representative Lauren Hannah’s home office. Hannah opened shop in October, and ASI-Modulex Marketing Communications Manager Kelly David said the company plans to open an office soon. The Dallas-based architectural signage company designs, builds and installs commercial signs, including those for branding and wayfinding. David said there are 40 locations nationally, including St. Louis and Kansas City, Kan. Projects include work for Union Pacific Railroad, DaimlerChrysler and Jet Blue Airways.
