Angye Sawyer and Julie Brandt opened Downtown Tans and Oxygen Bar on Feb. 7 at 431 S. Jefferson Ave., Ste. 124. They operate eight tanning beds and an air-brush tanning room, and they sell 90 percent pure oxygen in 24 aromas. Sawyer said the oxygen speeds up metabolism, heightens concentration and increases tanning efficiency by 20 percent through greater melanin production. Patrons breathe oxygen through tubes inserted in their noses. Monthly tanning memberships start at $20. A 20-minute oxygen session is $9. Jimmy John’s
Troy Link and his Springfield-based TJL Gourmet Subs LLC have opened two more Jimmy John’s franchise locations. Link opened Jimmy John’s submarine sandwich shops at 1002 S. Glenstone Ave. on Dec. 29 and at 2645 N. Kansas Expressway on Jan. 4, according to Link’s area manager, Hunter Walker. Link already owned Jimmy John’s restaurants at 322 E. Walnut St., 3536 S. National Ave. and in Bentonville and Fayetteville, Ark. Champaign, Ill.-based Jimmy John’s has more than 450 locations in about 30 states and two countries. Midwest Door Co.
Allen Quackenbush moved Midwest Door Co. on Nov. 30 to 1432 E. Trafficway from 1335 N. Stewart Ave. Midwest Door sells and installs garage doors, fire doors and loading-dock equipment. Quackenbush said he relocated after 14 years at the two-story, 16,000-square-foot Stewart Avenue building to the single-story, 13,000-square-foot building because it has more usable space.
