Robin Walker, John W. Handy Jr. and Jonathan Timson opened Walnut Capital Management LLC on March 2 at 1201 E. Walnut St. Walnut Capital Management is a locally owned financial advisory firm that offers a full range of personal and commercial services through Wachovia Securities Financial Network, including planning, asset management and portfolio management. Walker and Timson spent the last six years working for Morgan Stanley in Springfield, with Walker serving as office manager for the 1531 E. Bradford Parkway location. Before that, all three worked for Merrill Lynch, with Walker and Handy logging about 20 years each there. At Walnut Capital Management – located in the former Law Offices of M. Victory Square
Springfield Victory Mission opened Victory Square on Nov. 29 at 1610 N. Broadway Ave. Victory Square is Victory Mission’s men’s homeless shelter, and it has 23,000 square feet of space to house 150 men overnight, according to Public Relations Director Christy Wichlinski. The shelter relocated from 203 W. Commercial St., where it spent 20 years and could accommodate 50 men. On Commercial Street, Victory Mission maintains offices, a thrift store and Cook’s Kettle restaurant. Lynn Remmark is manager of Victory Square, which got its new name with the relocation. Baby’s Eden Décor
Jessica Keeter and her mother, Connie Speaks, launched Baby’s Eden Décor on March 6. The Web-based retailer, www.shopbabyseden.com, features baby blankets and custom-made linens for cribs. Sets of crib linens range from $280 to $410. Customers can create an online wish list for the company’s products. Keeter said she wants to begin selling baby furniture within six months.
