Tony Sissel opened Eclectic Antiques on March 18 at 330 E. Commercial St. Sissel specializes in furniture, jewelry, glassware and home décor items, including lamps and pictures. Inventory mostly dates from the early 1900s to the 1960s, he said. Sissel sells a small amount of inventory on a consignment basis in his 1,000-square-foot space. Children’s Garden Discovery School

Jessica Talley opened Children’s Garden Discovery School on March 5 at 1911 Fitz Lane in Nixa. The 5,000-square-foot facility is an individually owned and operated infant through prekindergarten school, offering part-time and full-time preschool programs, a prekindergarten program and school-age camps. The school follows the accreditation standards set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Program tuition ranges from $55 to $165. Book the Cooks Catering

Holly Green and Heather Perryman opened Book the Cooks Catering on April 2 at 550 W. Mount Vernon St., Ste. A, in Nixa’s South Towne Centre. Book the Cooks Catering is a meals-to-go and catering business that offers healthy meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and diet-specific items, Green said. Popular menu items include roasted pork tenderloin, beef stroganoff and poppy seed chicken. Costs vary depending on the order, but typically a meal for one person is about $8, Green said.
