Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool

Jeanne and Terry Najafi opened Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool on June 4. This is one of three franchise locations for Little Sunshine’s, which Rochette Harrington began in 2002 at 2826 W. Chestnut Expressway. Jeanne Najafi, who worked under Harrington as an infant and toddler supervisor for a year before buying a franchise, is temporarily operating from 2925 E. Battlefield, Ste. 100, in Claremont Commons. She will soon move into a newly constructed building at 2937 S. Claremont Ave., which will have 5,000 square feet of indoor space and 5,000 square feet of outdoor play space. Weekly fees for Najafi’s care and instruction ranges from $160 to $220, she said. Najafi’s permanent facility will accommodate up to 72 children. Hours: 6 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 883-1601.

Subway

Rick and Veronica Straus opened a Subway restaurant July 10 inside The Meyer Center, a CoxHealth-affiliated wellness and rehab center at 3545 S. National Ave. This is the first Subway inside a medical facility in Missouri, according to Rick Straus, who has been a Subway franchisee for four years; he also owns restaurants at 4118 S. National and inside Wal-Mart Supercenter at 2021 E. Independence St. Straus said CoxHealth approached Subway about opening a restaurant on its campus. Subway has been opening restaurants inside medical facilities for a couple years and now has sandwich counters in medical facilities in 30 states and several foreign countries. The Subway in The Meyer Center also will serve breakfast, Straus said. Hours: 7 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Phone: (417) 882-8888.

Provision Mapping

Kory and Susie Umlauf began Provision Mapping LLC on April 1. The home-based company offers consulting and marketing services to restaurants. Services include secret shoppers, e-mail promotions, Web design, menu setup and cost-control evaluation. Provision Mapping, www.provisionmapping.com, also is becoming a broker for “green” restaurant products, such as biodegradable cleaning products. Kory Umlauf is a former chef who owned Savory Foods in Osage Beach. Savory Foods was a specialty food market with a lunch counter and catering service, he said. Hours are by appointment. Phone: (417) 823-7708.
