Steve Varney opened The Double E Restaurant and Pub on June 12 at 3632 State Highway EE in Highlandville. Varney, a Highlandville developer, said he opened the restaurant because he wanted a local place to get a steak and a glass of wine. The Double E Restaurant and Pub also serves seafood, pasta and salad, and it has a full bar. He said one popular menu item is smoked prime rib, which is only served on Friday and Saturday nights. A 10-ounce serving is $14.95. Hours: 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m.–midnight Friday and Saturday, though the kitchen closes at 9 p.m. seven days a week. Phone: (417) 443-2000.

Bob Massengale is owner and broker for Heartland Realty Co., which opened Sept. 24 at 1362 Bryan Drive, Ste. 116, in Eagle Plaza Center in Nixa. Massengale, formerly of Empire Realtors in Nixa, focuses on commercial real estate, while three other agents, including son Jason Massengale, focus on residential properties. Boomer
Publisher and Editor Todd Yearack launched Boomer magazine Oct. 5. The baby boomer lifestyle publication is distributed quarterly in Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma. It has a circulation of about 20,000 and is sold at retailers, including Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble and Cody’s Convenience stores. Yearack and Director of Sales Debby Gilmore, both formerly of Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, created the magazine last year with Larry D. Renken under Boomer Publishing Co., which operates from 220 E. Sunshine St., Ste. 324. Renken is no longer with Boomer Publishing Co., Yearack said. Hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 886-9900.
