David and Cheri Crump opened Global Fayre on Dec. 7 in downtown Springfield. The store, 324 S. Campbell Ave., exclusively features fair-trade products, including food, jewelry and toys. Items come from all over the world, including the United States, though most items come from African nations and India, David Crump said. Prices range from about $8 for 12 ounces of whole bean coffee to about $450 for metal sculptures from Zimbabwe, he said. Crump, who has a background as a business consultant, said he and his wife are longtime supporters of fair trade, and their desire to work together prompted them to open Global Fayre. All About Floors and More
Dennis Moore purchased All About Floors on Jan. 2 for an undisclosed price. Moore renamed the store All About Floors and More and began operating it under the banner of Expert Floors and More LLC. The 4,250-square-foot store, 2745 S. Kansas Expressway, Ste. B-100, features most types of flooring – from rubber flooring for athletic arenas and warehouses to hardwood flooring and carpet for houses. Installation is contracted out, said Moore, who bought the store from Steve Stolz. All About Floors was established in 2000 and relocated to its current home in 2005, Moore said. Carl Grimes moved the Springfield office of Sunbelt Business Advisors on Jan. 2 to 4411 E. Sunshine St. Grimes is a franchisee of Independence, Ohio-based Sunbelt Business Advisors Network LLC. Sunbelt has 300 offices in the United States and 30 foreign countries, and Grimes owns three of them – Springfield, Joplin and Lowell, Ark. Led by managing partner Ted Smith, Sunbelt’s Springfield office, which opened in 2000, relocated from 3271 E. Battlefield Road. The move was made to downsize the firm’s office space to 1,100 square feet from 2,400 square feet, and it reduced expenses, Grimes said.
