Springfield-Greene County Library District opened its ninth branch April 4. Jazy Mihalik is branch manager for the 3,100-square-foot outlet at 128 Park Central Square in the Kresge building. The branch is an “arts- and media-themed, nontraditional facility,” according to the district’s Web site, www.thelibrary.org. The library features a small book collection, a wide newspaper and magazine collection, DVDs, CDs and more than a dozen computer stations. An interior doorway connects the library to The Coffee Ethic coffeehouse, which opened in December. The library district leases the space from developer Craig Wagoner, according to Community Relations Director Jeanne Duffey. Mitchell Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center
Chiropractor Amber Mitchell opened Mitchell Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center LLC on March 24 at 1015 E. Republic Road. Mitchell returned to her hometown of Springfield to open the practice after working as a chiropractor for a year in Louisiana, according to Alyson Deboutez, office manager and chiropractic assistant. Mitchell and Deboutez are the only staff, but Deboutez said Mitchell would likely hire a massage therapist within a month. They offer chiropractic adjustments, sports rehabilitation services such as resistance training and school physicals, and they are catering to women and children, Deboutez said. The Queen City Tea Room & Goodie Shoppe
Ingrid Taylor opened The Queen City Tea Room & Goodie Shoppe on Dec. 17 at 1533 W. Battlefield Road. Taylor serves cold and hot teas, coffee, quiche, soups and pastries. Taylor spent the last four years working in import/export compliance for Bass Pro Shops, but she operated other tea rooms from 1992–96 in Cabool and Mountain Grove. The Queen City Tea Room & Goodie Shoppe seats 24. Hours: 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday or by appointment for special occasions. Phone: (417) 877-9882.
