Harter House World Flavors

Harter House World Flavors opened for business April 10 at the grocery chain’s 1500 E. Republic Road store. Harter House spent more than $500,000 expanding by 2,500 square feet into the strip center’s adjacent unit, formerly occupied by Ashby’s Clothing, said Assistant Manager Michele Kauffman. World Flavors, which offers ethnic foods, is connected via hallway and has its own checkout stations. Kauffman said the featured cuisines include Asian, Greek, Indian, Mediterranean and Thai. Harter House moved its liquor department to World Flavors and created a cheese island and sample station, Kauffman added. The unique groceries are supplied by Kehe Food Distributors of Chicago, she said. Hours: 7 a.m.–10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 a.m.–9 p.m. Sunday. Phone: (417) 886-4410.

Sight & Sound Theatre

Branson’s $42 million Sight & Sound Theatre lifted the curtain for “Noah - The Musical” on May 24, a month ahead of schedule. The 339,000-square-foot theater, 1001 Shepherd of the Hills Expressway, has a 26,550-square-foot wrap-around stage and seats 2,085. During opening weekend, including an invitation-only premiere, officials said more than 5,000 people took in the show’s 40-foot sets, 45 actors, and live and animatronic animals. The Saturday show, however, was cut short due to a set malfunction, which was repaired in time for the next show four days later. The Branson property is the third for founder Glenn Eshelman’s Christian theater company, Good Shepherds Meadows LLC. The other two operate in Strasburg, Pa. “Noah,” the company’s signature show, debuted in 1995 and has played to 2.4 million people. Tickets range from $15 to $49; show schedules are at www.sight-sound.com. Box office hours: 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Phone: (800) 377-1277.

The Fringe

Hair stylist Dana Schutz relocated The Fringe on April 22 to 210 S. Campbell Ave. In the move to downtown Springfield from space in West Battlefield Road’s Salon Suites, Schutz added business partner Stefanie Wood. Schutz said The Fringe exclusively uses and sells Paul Mitchell products. The co-owners are former stylists at A Valeria Boss Salon, another downtown Paul Mitchell salon, and teach at The System, a Paul Mitchell school on South Kansas Expressway. Haircuts at The Fringe start at $20 for men and $30 for women, with cut and color packages beginning at $95, Schutz said. The duo lease 1,450 square feet from Sean McKay for $1,000 a month. Hours: 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday. Phone: (417) 873-2227.
