Great Southern Travel
Great Southern Travel moved its luxury travel division June 2 to the travel headquarters office at 3424 S. National Ave. from space in Brentwood Shopping Center. The new office, which was renovated for $30,000, brings all of Great Southern Travel’s operations under one roof, Managing Director Kris Conley said. Of the 7,800-square-foot complex, about 1,000 square feet is dedicated to luxury travel. The plan was put into motion five years ago with the purchase of House of Travel, which was owned by Linda Strait, now Great Southern Travel’s director of agency operations. The company handles “corporate-based travel to mom and pop taking a vacation,” Conley said. Great Southern Travel has about 35 employees in Springfield, and about 120 total employees with locations in St. Louis, Kansas City, Branson, Columbia, Joplin and Lebanon. Hours: 8 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday. Phone: (417) 895-5242.
Hair Club for Men and Women
Hair Club for Men and Women opened May 27 at 636 W. Republic Road. Manager Sharon Ladd and two employees, a consultant and stylist, provide three hair-loss solutions: nonsurgical bio-matrix hair replacement, microscopic hair transplants and a hair therapy system that works to stimulate hair growth. The 2,873-square-foot center, built for $500,000, is one of more than 90 Hair Club franchise locations. The Minneapolis-based Regis Corp.-owned Hair Club opened a Springfield location because of a large customer base that traveled to St. Louis and Kansas City to receive treatment, said Steve Stickney, vice president of the central region.
