Miacro, a textile and apparel design company, started producing its first collection in late January at 4114 S. Lone Pine Ave. Co-owners Jennifer McKelvie and Tina Noble design garments and collections, and research, develop and manufacture their products all in-house at the 900-square-foot working studio. The company, which McKelvie said is “as small as you can get,” sells products wholesale to boutiques with the help of interns and contract labor. In addition to two retailers in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Miacro recently secured its first local account: Staxx Apparel downtown. McKelvie and Noble worked together for about a year before the January opening. Design samples are accessible at www.miacrodesign.com. Hours: By appointment. Phone: (417) 890-0099.
Therapy Linen Care
Therapy Linen Care, an environmentally friendly linen cleaning and pressing service, opened June 3 at 225 E. Pacific St. The company specializes in laundry needs of massage therapists, acupuncturists, healing touch and other holistic and conventional medical professionals. Employees make pickups and deliveries during regular business hours but do the cleaning at their 1,800-square-foot location between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. in order to more efficiently use energy on the grid, said Manager Shannon Brotherton. The company uses biodegradable detergents and the most energy-efficient machines available, she said. Therapy Linen Care is owned by Juliet Mee, founder and president of the Professional Massage Training Center. Hours: Delivery and pick up 9–11 a.m. or by appointment. Phone: (417) 862-4852.
