Personal Touch Auto Detail

Joe and Ami Hinton opened Personal Touch Auto Detail on Sept. 30 at 1602 E. Kearney St., after working for another auto detail company for more than a year. Ami Hinton said the business serves individual customers and local car dealers. A complete auto detail package, which includes exterior wash, wax and buff, and cleaning of the motor, interior windows, upholstery and carpet takes three to four hours at a cost of $125. Hours: by appointment 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 619-5385.

Missouri Environmental Technology

Missouri Environmental Technology opened Aug. 1 at 3731 S. Glenstone Ave., Ste. 170, with four employees. The business performs state-required inspections for asbestos whenever a public building is demolished or when an older building undergoes major renovation. Samples from walls, ceiling, water lines and insulation are sent to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for testing, owner David Walker said. "If asbestos is found, we can either remove it, fix it or contain it, depending on the location and amount," he added. The business handles inspections for several local real estate companies and property managers. Walker says inspectors must pass both state and federal testing to become certified. Hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 860-7283.

McDonald's

McDonald's opened its first Battlefield location on Nov. 8 at 4022-A W. Republic Road. Amanda Lewis manages the new restaurant - the 226th McDonald's in Missouri, including 28 restaurants in Springfield - with six employees. Kim Haase was the general contractor for the 2,800-square-foot building. The Battlefield location is one of four stores owned by Donna Powers, and it is among the 61 stores in the McDonald's of the Ozarks Co-op. According to www.mcdonalds.com, the company operates 30,000 sites in 100 countries and serves 52 million customers each day. Eighty percent of those stores are owned and operated by local individuals. Hours: 6 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday, and 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday. Phone (417) 887-6667.
