Sinatra's Coffee Gallery

Kim Batson opened Sinatra's Coffee Gallery LLC on Jan. 15 at 601 N. National Ave., Ste. 105, across from Ozarks Technical Community College. Batson works part time, while her son, Dennis Mays, manages the 28-seat restaurant with five employees. Sinatra's Coffee Gallery is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner serving specialty coffees, sandwiches, soups and desserts. "Choosing a name for the restaurant was easy because my mother has been a lifelong fan of Frank Sinatra," Mays said, adding that Sinatra tunes are played daily. Hours: 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday. Phone: (417) 831-3737.

Tax Time

Certified public accountant Ted Smith opened Tax Time on Jan. 21 at 500 N. Third St., Ste. B, in Ozark, space formerly occupied by Finley River Quick Printing & Copies. Smith offers tax services for individuals and small businesses, and during the off-season, he handles tax structuring for new businesses and company closings. Tax Time offers same-day preparation on most returns, and one-day refund anticipation loans for qualified clients are available, said Smith, who has 14 years of accounting experience, including five years operating his own tax business in Siloam Springs, Ark. The fee to prepare an individual or joint nonitemized state and federal return is $125, he said. Hours: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Phone: (417) 485-2495.

Uptown Angels

Uptown Angels opened Nov. 22 at 1314 E. Battlefield Road in Fremont Center. The shop, formerly the site of So You Boutique, sells both new and upscale resale women's clothing and accessories, with nothing priced above $100. All resale merchandise is purchased locally, and new merchandise is purchased at market, said owner Sarah Shields, who has recently begun carrying a European denim line called LTB by Little Big. Women's jeans under that label are priced at $99. Shields has seven years of experience as an executive assistant with several local companies. The shop has one part-time employee. Hours: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 882-2645.Compiled by Barbara Burgess. Springfield Business Journal brings you new businesses each week.
