Owner Stan Murray, who holds the franchise for southwest Missouri and the Tulsa, Okla., area, said the average franchise cost is $50,000 and includes training at the national center in Denver. Bark Busters was founded in 1989 in Australia, and there are now more than 250 U.S. franchises. Murray, a former medical manager with Skaggs Regional Medical Center, said the average cost for a package - which includes a two-hour training session, owner education, phone support and a lifetime guarantee that the dog will continue the learned behavior - runs approximately $425.
