Interiors by Decorating Den

Pat and Nola Shivers were granted a master license franchise Nov. 1 by Interiors by Decorating Den, enabling them to recruit and train franchisees throughout Missouri, except for the greater St. Louis area, Pat Shivers said. The Shivers have owned a Nixa-based Interiors by Decorating Den, at 1310 N. Kelly, for 11 years. They employ four full-time designers, and their location has been among Decorating Den's Top 10 national performers for seven years, he said. Shivers said that there was a cost involved in obtaining the master license, but he declined to disclose the amount. According to www.decoratingden.com, Easton, Md.-based Interiors by Decorating Den is a 40-year-old interior design company that sends trained interior designers to customers' homes on request. There are more than 500 franchisees in the U.S. and Canada.

In the newly expanded framework of the Shivers' business, Pat Shivers - who recently retired after 29 years with Hammons Hotels and Resorts - is acting as business manager and introducing franchising opportunities within their territory, while Nola Shivers handles business-specific and design training and support. Anytime Fitness

Monte and Shawn Pearce opened their third Anytime Fitness location Oct. 12 at 2627 W. Republic Road. The Pearces, who were competitive dancers for 10 years before opening their first Anytime Fitness in Nixa three years ago, were looking for a family business, Monte said. The decision to open a fitness club came as a result of a deal made with his daughter, who had plans to study fitness in college and would need practical experience during her studies, he said. Anytime Fitness is a worldwide chain with 1,200 locations, according to www.anytimefitness.com. Manager John Gorman, who has a bachelor's degree in sports management/fitness wellness, said the Republic Road location has five employees, including two certified personal trainers. The club offers 24-hour access to cardio equipment, strength cables, free weights and tanning. Pearce said the focus of Anytime Fitness clubs is to help people achieve their personal fitness goals with an emphasis on personal service. Pearce said startup costs vary based on club locations and sizes, but he declined to disclose those costs for the Republic Road site. Monthly memberships are available and start at $29 a month for an individual, with some corporate discounts available, Pearce said. Hours: Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
