MCS Calibration Inc.
Holbrook, N.Y.-based MCS Calibration Inc. opened a Springfield division Jan. 4 at 1440 E. Lark St., Ste. B. The company provides calibration and testing of commercial measuring equipment for industries including aviation, automotive, law enforcement, manufacturing and medical. The company is owned by Kenneth LaMar and Richard Wilcox, who incorporated MCS in 1989. The local branch is led by husband-and-wife duo Mike and Jayne Line, who are the company’s two-full time employees in Springfield. Sales and Service Manager John Brower, who works in New York, said technicians also are sent to the Ozarks as needed. Hours: 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30–4:30 Friday. Summer Breeze Ice Cream Co.
Summer Breeze Ice Cream Co. opened Feb. 2 at 105 E. Center St. in Rogersville. The independent ice cream shop is owned by Cathi and Steve Snodgrass and offers hand-scooped ice cream sundaes, shakes, old-fashioned malts and banana splits. Cathi Snodgrass said most of the shop’s ice cream comes from Hiland Dairy in Springfield. Flavors include muddy sneakers, chocolate brownie fudge, butter pecan and over-the-rainbow sherbet, according to www.summerbreezeicecream.com. The Snodgrasses are the shop’s only employees, and Cathi Snodgrass is there full time. Her husband also works as an electrician at Kraft Foods. Eric Farran Agency LLC
Shelter Insurance Agent Eric Farran moved his office Jan. 16 to 109 Johnstown Drive in Rogersville. The agency previously was located at 115 E. Center St., he said. Farran has been a Shelter agent since 2008. He sells several types of insurance, including auto, home, business and life, working with two employees.
