Assemblies of God Credit Union opened its third Springfield branch Feb. 16 at 1776 E. Independence St. The building previously housed a Village Bank branch. Victor Fugate is branch manager for AGCU, which has 14,092 members and $93.3 million in assets, offering services that include checking accounts, loans and credit cards for individuals and businesses, according to Stephanie Jenkins, promotions coordinator. Jenkins said membership is open to members, ministers and missionaries of area Assemblies of God churches; staff members and students of Assemblies of God universities; and employees of Assemblies of God headquarters, as well as family members of any of those individuals. AGCU also has a branch in Waxahachie, Texas, where there is an Assemblies of God university, Jenkins said. HuHot Mongolian Grill
Mona and Leron Wagner opened a HuHot Mongolian Grill franchise Dec. 12 in the former J. Buck’s restaurant site at Battlefield Mall, 2825 S. Glenstone Ave. HuHot is based in Missoula, Mont., and the Wagners also own a franchise location in Kalispell, Mont. The eatery features all-you-can eat Mongolian grill dining, and Mona Wagner said diners choose their own meat and noodles, as well as selections from 25 fresh vegetables and 24 sauces, including fajita, garlic, curry and Asian flavors. Dinner is $11.49 per person, and Wagner said the eatery also offers appetizers, desserts, beer and wine. HuHot will roll out signature sake drinks, including a sake bloody Mary, in late March. The restaurant has nearly 100 employees, including General Manager Rebecca Goss. Hours: 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Phone: (417) 882-0300.

The Best of the Ozarks Books & Gifts
J.E. Cornwell, owner of JEC Publishing Co., opened The Best of the Ozarks Books & Gifts on Jan. 4 at 2969 E. Chestnut Expressway. The store is in leased space at Cimmaron Center, and JEC Publishing’s office is located behind it. Several of the titles at the gift store are published by JEC Publishing, including “2012: The Paranormal Cookbook,” by S.M. Belekurov, Cornwell said. The store has three employees and also carries books by area authors that are published by others. Gift items are local as well, including Askinosie chocolates, honey from Honey Heaven, coffees from Mudhouse and Ozark Mountain Coffee, Ott’s dressing from Carthage, and Hammons walnuts from Stockton. Cornwell said gift baskets, with cookbooks and gift items, are popular and range from $29 to $99. Hours: 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.–noon Saturday. Phone: (417) 873-2269.
