Capone’s Pizza
Serving daily specials and peanut butter and jelly-flavored wings, Capone’s Pizza & Pub opened May 28. Located at 1631 N. Glenstone Ave., Capone’s Pizza & Pub is co-owned by husband and wife Troy and Danielle Kelley and has seating for 102. “We slice our meat fresh every day,” Troy Kelley said. “We serve Italian food and pasta of all sorts, and our specialty is the deep-dish stuffed Chicago-style pizza.” The couple used savings to start their business. Energy Wise Inc.
Energy Wise Inc. opened June 1 at 3098 E. Marshall in Republic performing home-energy audits. Co-owners Jeremy Atchley and Don Sanders have more than 14 years of experience in the building industry. “I’ve been working on this for over three years now, and I’ve finally decided to jump,” Atchley said. “We’ve got a bunch of equipment we bring out, set up and run diagnostic tests, fix all the problem areas and ultimately try to save people money on their utility bills.” One of the main tests is to check for air leaks and low insulation coverage. Atchley and Sanders borrowed about $45,000 from family, Atchley said, to cover startup, including equipment, trucks and the building. Hours: By appointment. Phone: (417) 893-8941.

Gina McMurtrey Interiors
Gina McMurtrey, an independent interior designer who worked four years under Nancy Rose at Nancy Rose Inc., created her own brand June 1. Working from her Willard home, McMurtrey’s business offers space planning, custom draperies and bedding, personal selling, staging to sell and consulting for remodeling and new construction. McMurtrey said startup costs have been minimal because she works from home. She received training in interior design at Missouri State University. McMurtrey received 417 Magazine’s  “2009 Interior Design of the Year” for her work on the dining room of the home of Tom and Nancy Babik. Hours: By appointment. Phone: (417) 343-6058.
