SAAFhouse
Springfield Animal Advocacy Foundation opened a spay-neuter clinic Aug. 24 at 1600 N. Washington Ave., the former Association for the Blind building. SAAF bought the 3,000-square-foot building Jan. 29 for $175,000, assuming a $110,000 loan from the city, said Mary Crawford, clinic director. The clinic, called SAAFhouse, received a grant from PetSmart Charities to help with equipment costs, according to Janet Martin, SAAF board president. In addition to Crawford, SAAF employs two veterinarians, a vet technician and an office manager. The clinic’s goal is to make Springfield and its humane society no-kill by 2018. The model organization for SAAFhouse, Asheville, N.C.-based Humane Alliance of WNC Inc., began in 1994 as a spay-neuter clinic. Hours: 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 831-7223.

WineStyles

WineStyles relocated Aug. 5 to 2640 S. Glenstone Ave. in the Brentwood Center. Jeff and Hallie Sale opened WineStyles franchise nearly six years ago at 1362 E. Republic Road and, in the move, expanded the store to 2,000 square feet from 1,300. The new space is leased for four years, Hallie Sale said, declining to disclose terms. Sale said the store sells wine, gifts and baskets, cheese and chocolates. “We do a lot more by the glass, and we have a small appetizer menu,” Sale said. The store also has a private room that accommodates 16 for its tasting events and wine club. The Sales are area developers for Missouri and Kansas for Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based WineStyles. Hours: 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 882-4499.
