The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries has agreed to slow production.
OPEC plans to cut production by 1.2 million barrels a day if non-OPEC countries like Russia cut a further 600,000 barrels a day.
The cut slated to take effect by January would be the first since 2008.
