Springfield-based Culture Flock Clothing LLC, known among online audiences for its eclectic clothing inspired by pop culture, is launching a store in the $7.7 million Galloway Creek development.
Co-owner Summer Trottier, a partner in Galloway Creek Development Group, said the shop will open when the 46,372-square-foot project is complete. The goal is September 2018, she said.
“It’s the next logical step for us, especially because we love that area and there’s already an existing eclectic, creative community down there,” she said.
Culture Flock will double its square footage to 2,400 square feet and add a retail component with the move to the mixed-use property underway in Galloway Village. Culture Flock currently handles screen printing and design work at a property north of downtown near Ozarks Technical Community College, Trottier said, noting sales are mostly online but also occur at pop-up shops. Lease terms at Galloway Creek have not been finalized, she said.
The Springfield company operates its own e-commerce site at CultureFlock.com and wholesales to 70 boutiques in the United States and Canada. Trottier said one of its largest clients is Unique Vintage, a Burbank, California-based clothing provider primarily operating online.
Two years ago, Culture Flock contracted with 24 stores, and last year, revenue increased by 60 percent, Trottier said, declining to disclose a specific figure.
“We have been constantly growing,” said Trottier, who owns the company with her brother Brent Brown and Brittany Bilyeu. “Our target audience seems to be women anywhere from 18 to 90.”
In Galloway Creek, Culture Flock is taking over one of the three remaining spaces on the first-floor retail and restaurant level. The Jalili family, who also co-own Galloway Creek with Trottier and Brown, are launching a new restaurant called Chops in 4,500 square feet.
“In the works is a yoga studio and a coffee shop for the other remaining bays,” Trottier said. “That’s going to be a great thing for the residential piece upstairs.”
Galloway Creek is designed by Buxton Kubik Dodd Creative with 66 loft-style apartments in the two-building development.
