Online payment now available for delinquent taxpayers' use

Posted online
Missouri taxpayers who have received a delinquent notice from the state have a new option: to establish a payment plan through the Department of Revenue Web site.

Each year, between 15,000 and 18,000 taxpayers phone in or mail a request to the department to enter into a payment plan to pay their taxes, according to a DOR news release. Now those taxpayers can go to DOR’s secure Web site, www.dor.mo.gov, to establish a payment plan.

The new Web-based Computer Assisted Collection System allows individual income taxpayers will use their Social Security number, along with a personal identification number on their delinquency notice, to enter the site. Business taxpayers will use their PIN and sales tax license number.

Visitors can set up a number of payment options, including the number and dollar amount of payments and the type of payment – credit card, electronic funds transfer or check/money order. After setting up the plan, taxpayers will receive a letter stating the terms of the agreement, as well as a reminder letter each time a payment is due or scheduled to be paid electronically.

“We are making significant steps in using technology across the department,” said department Director Trish Vincent in the release. “This is just another example of the department using technology to improve convenience and efficiency for our customers. Instead of putting a Band-Aid on problems, we are working toward long-term solutions that will save taxpayers time and money.”[[In-content Ad]]
