One of America's oldest malls is closing

One of America's oldest malls is set to close, more than half a century after it opened outside of Detroit.

The last two big-name holdouts at Northland Center, Target and Macy's, are leaving by the end of the month, according to CNNMoney.

With over half of the mall's space vacant, it's leaking $250,000 a month.

Northland Center opened in Southfield, Mich., in 1954.

Springfield's Battlefield Mall was built in 1970.
