OZARKS CELEBRATION
Organizers of the annual Ozarks Celebration Festival already are planning this year's event, which will be held Aug. 24-25 on the campus of Southwest Missouri State University. In its fifth year, the event celebrates life in the Ozarks by forging an educational, entertaining link to the region's past. SADDLE UP
The Roy Rogers-Dale Evans Museum is moving from Victorville, Calif., to a 26,000-square-foot museum to be built in Branson. According to Branson city officials, the museum, which will include a 300-seat theater, will be built on approximately four acres of land near the intersection of State Highway 376 and Green Mountain Drive, across from the former Branson USA theme park. The land is being leased from Rick Huffman, a developer who also is the contractor for the museum project, which is expected to be finished next May.
SCREENERS
The Transportation Security Adminis-tration is accepting applications for federal security screeners for airports across the nation, including the Springfield-Branson Regional Airport. Transportation security scanner duties include providing front-line security and protection of travelers, airports and airplanes by identifying dangerous objects in baggage and on passengers, and preventing those objects from being taken onto airplanes. The TSA is mandated by the Aviation and Transpor-tation Security Act to recruit, hire and train screening personnel to assume passenger screening responsibilities at the 429 commercial airports in the United States by Nov. 19. Applicants can apply online at www.tsa.dot.gov.
SLASHER SCOUT
Scott Wright, field manager for the Springfield Slashers, a first-year amateur summer baseball team, has accepted a position as an associate scout for the Major League Cincinnati Reds organization. Wright will seek out and evaluate high school and college ballplayers for the Reds, mainly in the Midwest. Wright was drafted out of college by the Reds in 1996 and played in their organization until 1999.
SLICE OF NICE
Springfield Victory Mission is seeking new or good used children's clothing in sizes seven to 14 to give to children at its annual Back to School event, which is expected to serve more than 2,000 children in the Springfield area. During the event, the children receive school supplies, Scholastic books, and clothing from the Victory Mission Thrift Store. Clothing donations can be made at the thrift store, which is located at 206 E. Commercial.
