PROJECT REPORTS
Springfield Business Journal will Aug. 26 publish its Architects & Engineers issue, which will include a listing of projects preferably those under way or in the planning stages. Every effort has been made to contact area architecture and engineering firms regarding projects for inclusion. Time is short, but firms that have not yet received a fax or e-mail and would like to participate are encouraged to contact Inside Business Editor Maria Hoover at 417-831-3238, or via e-mail at mhoover@sbj.net for additional information and guidelines.
EMERGENCY ENTRANCE
Patients who visit the emergency/urgent care department at Cox Medical Center North, 1423 N. Jefferson Ave., will note that the walk-in patient entrance has been moved, and it is now west-facing on Robberson Avenue. The new entrance is marked with a canopy and a lighted sign. Cox North's emergency department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The urgent care department, which is located within the emergency department, is open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. seven days a week to provide after-hours care or handle minor emergency needs.
EQUALITY
Women's Equality Day, celebrated Aug. 26, is designed to commemorate the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting women the right to vote. Aug. 26 was designated Women's Equality Day in 1971.
Cheryl Grazier, executive director of the Missouri Women's Council, which promotes and supports Women's Equality Day, noted that the day commemorates women's gaining the right to vote and calls attention to women's continuing efforts toward equality. Additional information about the Missouri Women's Council and Women's Equality Day is available at www.womenscouncil.org.
SLICE OF NICE
A lunchtime benefit for the Kids' Caf Program of Ozarks Food Harvest will be held 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at the St. Louis Bread Company at the corner of National Avenue and Elm Street. During that time, 100 percent of the money patrons spend on lunch will be donated to the Kids' Caf Program. There are 13 program sites throughout the Ozarks. Every day, the program feeds nearly 1,000 at-risk children after-school snacks and hot evening meals.
Children served gain self esteem via meal preparation involvement, serving and cleanup. They also learn about food safety and nutrition.
During that same weekend, Aug. 16-18, other St. Louis Bread Co. locations in Springfield will hold food and school supply drives during which customers may donate nonperishable food items and/or school supplies.
