The Springfield Regional Arts Council has issued a call for nominations for the 18th annual Ozzie Award, which is given each year to a person and/or organization that has had a significant impact on Springfield's art community. The nomination deadline is Sept. 10. For more information or to obtain a nomination form, contact the arts council office.
BARBECUE WITH A CAUSE
The Springfield Downtown Exchange Club will hold its 46th Annual Chicken Barbecue 6-8 p.m. Sept. 5 at Pat Jones River Park. Tickets are $15, which pays for beer, soda and one-half of a barbecued chicken. Chicken will be served until 8 p.m.; additional halves will then be sold. The money benefits charitable causes that prevent child abuse.
FESTIVAL TIME
Hollister's Fifth Annual Grape and Fall Festival will be held Sept. 6-7 on the city's historic Downing Street. The event will begin with an opening ceremony at noon Sept. 6; festivities that day will conclude with a 7:30 p.m. entertainment finale. The fun continues Sept. 7 with the annual grape stomp at noon, and the festival wraps up at 9 p.m. that evening. Several musical performers are scheduled, and the history of Hollister will be showcased Sept. 7 at the College of the Ozarks' Ralph Foster Museum. Volunteer and vendor opportunities are available. SLICE OF NICE
The Sixth Annual Ozarks Women's Links Golf Tournament, which raises money for the battle against breast cancer, will be held Sept. 9 at the Rivercut Golf Course, 2850 W. FR 190. The 18-hole, two-woman scramble has tee times at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The fee to participate is $100 per person, which includes greens fees, golf cart, gift pack and awards luncheon. Sponsorship opportunities also are available. For more information or to register, contact the Cox Women's Center. Tournament proceeds benefit the Ozarks Women's Links Mammography Fund, which assists area women who cannot pay for diagnostic mammography procedures. More than $16,000 was raised during last year's tournament.
