Registration is under way for adults to take part in "Making Your Entrepreneurial Dream Come True" at 9 a.m. July 17 at the Edge Community Technology Center in the Midtown Carnegie Branch Library, 397 E. Central St. |ret||ret||tab|
Participants will get guidelines for writing a venture start-up or business expansion loan request, learn how to research market potential online and create a feasibility plan. |ret||ret||tab|

Roadway improvements|ret||ret||tab|
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on June 6 to mark the completion of intersection and roadway improvements at Fremont Avenue and Republic Road. The $1.6 million project was funded through the 2001 quarter-cent capital improvements sales tax and was completed 85 days ahead of schedule. Helping complete the project was general contractor Hartman & Company and the engineering division of Springfield Public Works. These improvements will provide additional safety for parents and students at Disney Elementary School.|ret||ret||tab|

The Springfield Contractors Association will hold its 19th annual SCA Pig Roast 6-9 p.m. July 17. |ret||ret||tab|
This year's event will take place at Buena Vista Ranch, located 10 miles east of Springfield on Division. Food service ends at 8 p.m. with the bar closing at 9 p.m. Tickets are required and cost $20 per person. |ret||ret||tab|
