Domestic violence stamp

The Springfield post office has joined a nationwide effort to fight domestic violence through sales of the new Stop Family Violence "semipostal" stamp. According to a release from the Springfield operations of the U.S. Postal Service, as a semipostal stamp, the difference between the 45-cent stamp and the 37-cent postage fee, or 8 cents, will be contributed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for domestic violence programs. This is the third semipostal stamp in U.S. history.

The stamp can be viewed online at www.usps.com/shop, in the Collector's Corner.

The stamps also can be purchased online at that address, or purchased at area post office branches.
