Investors have acquired downtown property that houses The Christian Foundation Inc., 420 S. Campbell Ave., according to Realtor Jacob Krizan of Coldwell Banker Vanguard, who would not disclose a price. Christian Foundation Director Price Brown said the nonprofit was seeking $275,000. "We're pretty close. We're pretty happy," Brown said, adding that operations will likely move to southeast Springfield. Though Krizan would not disclose investor names, he said the more than 8,000 square feet of space would be completely renovated and leased.|ret||ret||tab|

The 25 Springfield-area Blimpie Subs & Salads restaurants are among those where Blimpie International Inc. is introducing its new Blimpie Carb-Counter Menu. The Carb-Counter Menu features items that have lower net carbs. The menu items are available individually or as part of new Carb-Counter combo meals. Menu items include a Baja turkey Swiss sandwich, a buffalo chicken sandwich, a Sicilian salad and BCC Smart Munch chips, which have approximately five grams of net carbs per bag. SoBe Lean, a cranberry-grapefruit beverage with no sugar and one gram of net carbs, also has joined the menu, according to a Blimpie corporate news release. |ret||ret||tab|

The Southwest Missouri chapter of the Alzheimer's Association will present a Family Matters seminar, "Memory and You," 6-7 p.m. Feb. 18 at Mid-America Cancer Center, 2055 S. Fremont, in the upstairs auditorium. Dr. Michael Whetstone, neuropsychologist with St. John's Regional Health Center, will speak about keeping the mind fit and understanding memory loss. The presentation will be especially beneficial for caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's or related dementias. The seminar is free and open to the public, but reservations are appreciated. The Springfield Regional Arts Council will hold a workshop "The Business Arts and Crafts: The Art and Craft Show" from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 7 in the auditorium and meeting rooms at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell. The event will include a show industry overview from Cathy Evans of Bignose Creations. Breakout session topics will include selling online, and comparing wholesale, retail and consignment selling. Booth design and pricing fine arts will also be covered. Attendees should bring their own lunch in order to join program presenters for informal table talks.
