‘Mr. Snappy’ suit
Springfieldian Chris Ames was awarded $65,000 in a three-year-old Greene County civil lawsuit against Friendly Ford co-owner Jay Wise. At the center of the suit: a comb named “Mr. Snappy.” According to a news release from Ames’ Shawnee Mission, Kan., attorneys, Bennett & Bodine PA, the Friendly Ford salesman was allegedly physically abused during business hours. Ames claims that he and others were struck in the ears with a comb that Wise called “Mr. Snappy.” Ames also alleged that Wise repeatedly struck him and other male sales staff in the genitals and that Wise spit ice water down his back. On Dec. 21, a jury found Wise liable for assault and battery; there were no damages against Friendly Ford.
