Listed here are the restaurant health inspections conducted by the Springfield-Greene County Health Department. Restaurants are inspected for critical and noncritical violations of state standards. According to the Springfield-Greene County inspection code, critical violations are “more likely than other violations to contribute to food contamination, illness and/or injury.” And noncritical violations, “although important to the overall food hygiene of the establishment, do not necessarily present an immediate threat to food contamination, illness and/or injury.” The number of both critical and noncritical violations are given and specific critical violations are listed. *Denotes a critical violation.

Big Whiskeys, 311 Park Central East; Critical violations found: 2. *Potato soup 92 F in walk-in cooler at 1:11 p.m. Manager states the soup was placed in cooler about 10:45 a.m. (Requires potentially hazardous food to be cooled to 71 F within two hours and to 41 F or below within four hours.) Corrected by placing in three separate containers in ice bath and cooled to 41 F within one hour. *Spinach dip 54 F in upper partition of deli cooler. Sour cream 60 F in lower partition of deli cooler. (Requires potentially hazardous food to be cold-held at 41 F or below.) Corrected by discarding. Discussed working options. Carlos O’Kelly’s Mexican Cafe, 4100 S. Campbell; Discussed dented cans. Critical violations found: 1. *Mold growth found on inside of ice machine. Corrected by washing, rinsing and sanitizing. Noncritical violations found: 3.

Domino’s Pizza, 230 E. Republic; Manager Chad Griffin states that the floor tile issue will be corrected within the next few weeks, when Domino’s takes over part of the adjacent building to extend the size of the dish room. Chad said that the contractor should be contacting us soon to approve of changes. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 3.

Fast-N-Friendly, 3249 E. Evans; Critical violations found: 2. *Sandwich cooler not cold-holding adequately 50 F. Discarded all food, $150. *Hamburgers not hot-holding adequately 120 F. (Must be monitored as time as a control, discarded within four hours.) Noncritical violations found: 0.

Fast-N-Friendly, 3249 E. Evans; Reinspection: Violations corrected, refrigerator cold-holding adequately, all sandwiches in hot-hold unit monitored as time as a control in a log. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 0.

Great Wall Buffet, 3130 S. Glenstone; Critical violations found: 8. *Lacking demonstration of knowledge on some areas of food safety. (Person in charge must demonstrate all areas of food safety.) *Employees have open drink cups all over the kitchen. (Must have lid and straw.) Corrected. *Raw chicken stored above fresh produce. Chicken moved to designated area on bottom shelf. *Slicer not clean. (Must clean and sanitize within four hours of use.) Corrected. *Knives stored on metal rack unclean. (Must clean and sanitize prior to storage.) Corrected. *Can opener not clean. (Must clean daily.) Corrected. *Dishwasher not sanitizing adequately – at 10 ppm. Corrected to 50-100 ppm. *Evidence of roaches (Continue pest control and cleanliness.) Noncritical violations found: 6.

Great Wall Buffet, 3130 S. Glenstone; Reinspection. Five critical violations corrected, can opener and slicer clean and sanitized within four hours of use, knives stored clean in prep area, ongoing education on safe food handling with Spanish and Chinese education materials. Dishwasher sanitizing adequately. Critical violations found: 2. *Large baking sheets not properly sanitized. (Must go through three-compartment sink to wash, rinse and sanitize). *Evidence of roaches (Continue pest control). Noncritical violations found: 3.

Gailey’s Breakfast Cafe, 220 E. Walnut; Critical violations found: 1. *Improper reheating of potentially hazardous foods when gravy on steam table was 90 F; discussed reheat methods and gave handouts. Noncritical violations found: 2.

Honey Baked Ham Co., 1416 E. Battlefield; Discussed moving single service items out from underneath the front handsink, and in their place putting chemicals or cleaning materials. Critical violations found: 1. *Concentration of bleach sanitizer found greater than 200 ppm. (Correct to 50-100 ppm.) Corrected on site. Noncritical violations found: 0.

Hooters of Springfield, 2010 E. Independence; Discussed pest prevention. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 4.

Imo’s Pizza, 600 S. Pickwick; Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 1.

Jump Stop Grill, 2540 N. Glenstone; Critical violations found: 1. *Some flies noted in food preparation areas and landing on food contact surfaces. (Must take actions to minimize flies.) Noncritical violations found: 5.

Kentucky Fried Chicken, 726 W. Kearney; Reinspection: Critical violations corrected. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 1.

Little Tokyo, 1635 N. Glenstone; Reinspection: No evidence of mice or insects, and a pest control service is being utilized now. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 1.

Max Orient, 2825 S. Glenstone; Critical violations found: 3. *Breaded chicken cooked yesterday is sitting out in covered tub, 55 F, with no indication of how long it has been there. (Discussed using time as a control.) *Potentially hazardous foods are not held at 45 F or less when cooked chicken in make table is 55 F. Air temperature 55 F, unit taken out of service for repairs. Repair person called. *Flies observed around chicken box in mop sink, small bug on tub of cooling chicken in back hallway. (Food must be protected during cooling process.) Discussed fly control methods. Noncritical violations found: 1.

Max Orient, 2825 S. Glenstone; Reinspection. Corrections: no flies observed, purchased netting to go over cooling chicken, make table has been repaired, food temperatures below 40 F. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 0.

McAlister’s Deli, 210 W. Sunshine; Critical violations found: 2. *Unclean duct tape hanging down in food on make table. Removed. Permanent solution needs to be found. *Employee made up sink with sanitizer measured less than 200 ppm. Sanitizer is added by hand, no way to measure consistantly. (Recommend marking fill line for water, a measuring device. Dip buckets from sink as well.) Noncritical violations found: 7.

McAlister’s Deli, 210 W. Sunshine; Reinspection. Corrections: loose inside lids on make tables have been screwed together for a tight hold, no duct tape present. New sign at three-vat instructing employees how to make up the sanitizer in the proper concentration. Offered some additional information. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 0.

Mikayla’s Grille, 3700 E. Millwood; Critical violations found: 2. *One cook’s main cutting board deeply grooved. (Must be smooth, easily cleanable). *Inside ice machine deflector and chute not clean. (Clean and sanitize). Noncritical violations found: 1.

Papa John’s Pizza, 3305 S. Campbell; Discussed pest prevention measures and importance of keeping employee food items stored separate from store food items in the walk in. Critical violations found: 1. *Tomato slicer found stored not clean. (Correct by washing, rinsing and sanitizing.) Corrected on site. Noncritical violations found: 1.

Rib Crib, 1640 N. Glenstone; Critical violations found: 1. *Sour cream in one preparation refrigerator was 53 F at 2:40 p.m. Immediately discarded. (Must hold potentially hazardous foods at 45 F or below - existing equipment.). Noncritical violations found: 5.

Rivercut Snack Bar, 2350 W. FR 190; Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 4.

Sonic Drive-In, 2605 W. Republic; Critical violations found: 3. *Inside of ice machine moldy. (Empty out ice and clean and sanitize chute and ceiling of ice machine). *Several pans and utensils on clean drain boards have visible soil left on them. (Wash, rinse, and sanitize and check that they are completely free of soil and food debris before putting on clean drain rack.) *Chemical spray bottles not separate from food and food contact surfaces. (Spray bottles of chemicals must be stored in a manner that will prevent contamination of food and food contact surfaces or equipment). Noncritical violations found: 0.

Sonic Drive-In, 1630 N. Glenstone; Reinspection: Drain lines under both three-vat sinks have been repaired. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 1.

Some food has thawed and was thrown away. Double-door, reach-in refrigerator in the kitchen is holding food at 55-60 F. *Mold growth in icemaker. Noncritical violations found: 2.
