Listed here are the restaurant health inspections conducted by the Springfield-Greene County Health Department. Restaurants are inspected for critical and noncritical violations of state standards. According to the Springfield-Greene County inspection code, critical violations are “more likely than other violations to contribute to food contamination, illness and/or injury.” And noncritical violations, “although important to the overall food hygiene of the establishment, do not necessarily present an immediate threat to food contamination, illness and/or injury.” The number of both critical and noncritical violations are given and specific critical violations are listed. *Denotes a critical violation.

Abbey Road Foods, 1307 E. Montclair; Discussed hair restraints. Critical violations found: 2. *Spray bottle of sanitizer was not labeled properly with contents. Corrected on site. *Sanitizer concentration found above 400 ppm. (Maintain at 200 ppm per manufacturer’s label.) Corrected on site. Noncritical violations found: 4

Bambu Vietnamese Cuisine, 1338 E. Battlefield; Reinspection was to be conducted on 11/27/06 to confirm corrections to critical violations. Critical violations found: 3. *Black eye peas, rice and sugar not properly cooled to below 41 F within six hours. Corrected by discarding. *Ice machine has mold growth on inside. (Correct by cleaning and sanitizing.) *Knives were found stored not clean. (Clean and sanitize after each use.) Corrected on site. Noncritical violations found: 5

Cafe 641, 4653 S. Campbell; Discussed using time as a control and documentation that would be required. Critical violations found: 2. *Milk for coffee found at 60 F in aluminum carafe. (Maintain below 41 F or utilize time as a control.) Corrected on site by discarding. *Potentially hazardous, ready-to-eat tuna salad was not properly date-labeled. Corrected by labeling with a seven-day discard date. Noncritical violations found: 0

Casey’s General Store, 4124 W. Chestnut Expressway; 11/22/06 Reinspection. Inside of ice machine cleaned and sanitized. Cardboard replaced with glass door. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 0

Cody’s No. 3, 3449 W. Kearney; Discussed drinking cups not allowing bottle with snap cap or screw-top cup with lid and straw or travel mug with lid, date-marking BBQ Beef, BBQ chicken, chili soup. Critical violations found: 3. *Hot dogs 130 F, cheeseburger roller bites 130 F, sandwiches at 120 F, southwest pizza at 135 F. (Potentially hazardous foods must be held hot at 140 F or above or marked for time as a control.) Hot dogs and cheeseburgers discarded immediately, others marked with expiration time. (If using time as a control must be marked to be discarded four hours from the date.) *Soda nozzles moldy. (Wash, rinse and sanitize.) Corrected immediately. *Spray bottle of chemical not labeled. Corrected immediately. Noncritical violations found: 2

Go Convenience Store, 1925 E. Bennett; Critical violations found: 1. *Clean utensils stored by chemicals on drain board. (Must have separation or spacing between chemicals and clean utensils.) Corrected. Noncritical violations found: 0.

Grove Deli, 1001 E. Primrose; Discussed hand-washing and date-marking. Critical violations found: 2. *Employee not properly washing hands with soap. (Instructed to wash hands with soap for 20 seconds.) Corrected verbally. *Ready-to-eat potentially hazardous food items are not properly date-labeled. (Label with a seven-day discard date.) Noncritical violations found: 1.

Kum & Go No. 470, 1605 E. Kearney; Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 9.

Lamar’s Donuts, 3654 S. Campbell; Reinspection. All previously listed critical violations have been corrected. Management now has test strips to properly monitor the concentration of sanitizer in sanitizer solution. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 0.

Long John Silvers, 2110 S. Campbell; Critical violations found: 1. *Sanitizer is greater than 200 ppm in two wipe cloth buckets. Powder used is one packet per 15 gallons water so employees “guess” on how much to use. Discussed options with manager. Noncritical violations found: 4.

McDonald’s, 528 S. Glenstone; Critical violations found: 1. *Dining room soda nozzles not clean. (Clean and sanitize.) Corrected. Noncritical violations found: 2.

Metropolitan Grill, 2931 E. Battlefield; Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 2.

Modern Day Vets No. 315, 218 S. Campbell; Reinspection. Manager lost keys and ice machine has not been cleaned – reschedule reinspection. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 0.

Planet Sub, 533 S. Kimbrough; Reinspection. Corrections: chemical dishwasher putting correct amount of sanitizer in final rinse. Manager has posted signs concerning temperatures of hot and cold food, reheat and cooling times and temperatures. Continue to work on when to wash hands. Critical violations found: 0. Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits, 1725 W. Sunshine; Due to repeat critical violations, a show cause hearing was scheduled for Nov. 27. Critical violations found: 6. *Assistant manager could not answer food safety questions. (Person in charge must be able to demonstrate knowledge of food safety.) *Employee did not wash hands before putting on gloves and preparing sandwiches. (Must wash hands when switching tasks and before putting on gloves.) *Employee preparing three-vat sink to wash dishes without cleaning and sanitizing from chicken prep this morning, chicken prep sink coated with food debris. (Must clean and sanitize prep table and three-vat sink after use, must install barrier between prep sink and three-vat sink or switch flow of dishes to protect against cross contamination.) *Refrigerated make table not plugged in at 1:25 p.m., chicken in top of make table at 50 F. (Potentially hazardous foods must be held cold at 41 F or below.) Discarded chicken immediately; refrigerator at 41 F at 2:05 p.m. *Utensils put away with food debris, pans put away on clean rack with food debris, tumbler put away unclean. (Wash, rinse, and sanitize.) *Spray bottle of sanitizer set above prep table. (Toxic chemicals must be stored separate from food and food-prep areas.) Moved immediately. Noncritical violations found: 7.

Springfield Inn, 2355 N. Glenstone; Reinspection. Drain line at four-vat sink has been repaired. Hot water was operational at hand sink. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 0.

T-Mobile Cafeteria/Jackson Brothers, 2645 Airport Plaza; Noon-6:30 p.m. operating hours, in around 9 a.m. to prepare. Critical violations found: 2. *Corn dogs at 135 F, chicken breasts at 100 F, chicken strips at 96 F, chicken cordon bleu 96 F. Product under heat lamps just cooked, so labeled for time as control, chicken cordon bleu and chicken breast put back into oven to reheat to 165 F. (Potentially hazardous products must be held hot at 140 F or above.) *Salisbury steak past expiration date, roast pork had no expiration date on it. (Must label potentially hazardous foods with expiration date per code seven days including make date opening of commercially prepared product.) Salisbury steak discarded and pork labeled.
