City Restaurant Health Inspections

Listed here are the restaurant health inspections conducted by the Spring?eld-Greene County Health Department. Restaurants are inspected for critical and noncritical violations of state standards. According to the Spring?eld-Greene County inspection code, critical violations are “more likely than other violations to contribute to food contamination, illness and/or injury.” And noncritical violations, “although important to the overall food hygiene of the establishment, do not necessarily present an immediate threat to food contamination, illness and/or injury.” The number of both critical and noncritical violations are given and speci?c critical violations are listed. *Denotes a critical violation.

Archie’s Lounge, 1817 E. Grand; Critical violations found: 1. *Sanitizing solution weak in three-compartment sink. Noncritical violations found: 1.

Cartoons, 1614 S. Glenstone Ave.; Critical violations found: 4. *One soda nozzle at Big Room bar not clean. (Clean and sanitize.) *Hand sink by cook line, no hot water available, leak in waste line. (Maintain in proper repair.) *Unlabeled spray bottle of chemicals. (Bottles must be labeled with common name and stored away from food.) *Sanitizing solution too strong, at 200 ppm. Corrected. Noncritical violations found: 6.

Critical violations found: 2. *In the Big Room soda guns not clean. (Clean and sanitize.) *Cook’s hand sink waste line leaking, no hot water available. Maintenance called for repair. Noncritical violations found: 0.

Cracker Barrel, 2858 N. Glenstone Ave.; Critical violations found: 2. *Dish machine had less than 10 ppm chlorine in final rinse. Dish machine was repaired prior to exit. (Must ensure final rinse is 50-100 ppm chlorine.) *Paper bag of Kleer filter aid was being stored beside and under cleaning and other chemicals. Promptly relocated to area with paper goods. (Must ensure that any item added to food is protected from potential contamination.) Noncritical violations found: 2.

Dairy Queen, 3665 E. Sunshine St.; Reinspection. All violations corrected, no further signs of pests, date-marking policies consistent with all potentially hazardous foods. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 0.

Fedora Social House, 300 Park Central East; Pre-opening inspection. Permitted. Critical violations found: 1. *Ice bins contain dust from construction. (Clean and sanitize bins before using.) Corrected. Noncritical violations found: 0.

IHOP, 2647 N. Kansas Expwy.; A follow-up inspection is required. Critical violations found: 1. *Food contact surfaces are not clean and sanitized: Ice machine is not clean, plastic containers holding the ice scoops and spoons at the wait station are not clean. Noncritical violations found: 4.

Incredible Pizza Co., 2850 S. Campbell; Critical violations found: 2. *Not all potentially hazardous foods are held at 41 F or less: ice cream mix in hopper is 53-65 F. Mix was made yesterday and is 37 degrees in walk-in. *Vegetable oil in spray bottle labeled as chemical bottle. Noncritical violations found: 4.

Mudhouse Coffee, 4653 S. Campbell Ave.; Discussed hair restraints. Critical violations found: 1. *Incorrect use of time as a control for milk pitchers at the coffee self-service area. Date and time were not properly documented since 2/29/08. Noncritical violations found: 3.

Papa John’s Pizza, 1282 E. Republic; Discussed several basic food safety practices and encouraged the person in charge to attend a food safety class. Critical violations found: 6. *Person in charge failed to properly demonstrate knowledge of sanitizer concentration, cold holding temperatures and frequency of cleaning and sanitizing utensils. *Employee drink in food preparation area was not properly covered to prevent contamination. Corrected by removing. *Employees eating pizza in food preparation area. (Employees shall eat in a designated eating area, not food preparation area.) *Employee used bare hands to place ready-to-eat peppers inside pizza box. (Utilize tongs when handling this ready-to-eat food item.) *Mold growth found on the inside of the soda nozzles. (Clean and sanitize this food-contact surface on a more frequent basis.) *Can opener blade found stored not clean. (Clean and sanitize this food-contact surface after each use.) Noncritical violations found: 5.

Papa John’s Pizza, 3305 S. Campbell Ave.; Work order has been issued to replace the ceiling tiles above the walk-in cooler. Critical violations found: 0. Noncritical violations found: 4.
