Cox Health Systems' Diabetes Center diabetes education program has received the American Diabetes Association Award of Recognition, assuring that the program has met the National Standards for Diabetes Patient Education. The award comes after a comprehensive documentation process and rigorous peer review.

Ken Reynolds has been named Volunteer of the Year for Hartline Hospice. Reynolds was presented with a plaque in his honor by Vernetta Bates, director of volunteers, at the Hartline Christmas Awards Dinner Dec. 19.

Rosa Archibald, owner, Archibald Cowan Ringer Communications Inc., and Nancy Lahmers, attorney at law, labor relations and human resources, along with 31 other women leaders from Missouri, graduated from the Greater Missouri Leadership Program during a ceremony at NationsBank in St. Louis.

Dick Hall, owner and president of Branson Realty Inc., has successfully completed the certified international property specialist class, "Essentials of International Real Estate," sponsored by the Missouri Association of Realtors in St. Louis. This course fulfills one of the educational requirements of the CIPS designation awarded by the National Association of Realtors.

Kirk and Barbara Hewitt, GRI, CRS, with Coldwell Banker Vanguard, Realtors, have been awarded the accredited buyer representative designation of the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council of the National Association of Realtors. The Hewitts join more than 4,000 real estate professionals who have earned the ABR designation.

All Service Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Ltd. recently sent its technical staff to a two-day Salesmasters Course by Harry Friedman in Chicago and Dallas. Mike Gaston, Yancy Wiertzema and Shauna Wiertzema attended the course in Chicago on Nov. 14 and 15. Theresa Gilmore (owner), Randy Meredith, Duane Crouse and Chris Hoffman attended in Dallas Nov. 16 and 17.

Paula Goodin, commercial lines service agent at Barker Phillips Jackson Inc., and Callae Doty, bond specialist at BPJ, recently received their certificates in general insurance from the Insurance Institute of America. In order to receive the certificates, each woman successfully completed courses in commercial, personal and principle insurance.

Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Company recently honored employees for their years of service to the company. Employees from Springfield, Lebanon, Bolivar and Rolla locations were honored. Joe Graves was recognized for 40 years of service. Tim Cook was honored for 30 years of service and Vonna Prater for 25 years. Honored for 20 years of service were Jim Dunmire, Mike Tuter, Gene Morgan, Don Butler, Ray Graves, Mark Wood and Tom Wilson. Honored for 15 years of service were Ken Dittmer, Bob Jennings, Brad Davis, Gary Haas and Chris Rosenburg. Honored for 10 years of service were Linda Leonard, Casey Eddings, Lavern Hood, Tommy Moore and Shane Moore. Employees honored for five years of service were Cary Watson, Joe Davis, Robert Dureault, Russ Orrell and Tim Lenox.

Rosa Archibald, a principal of Archibald Cowan Ringer Communications Inc., recently participated in the Public Relations Society of America's national conference. The conference, with a theme of "Forging Consensus," offered professional development seminars and workshops.

Wanda Nicol, food director for The Showboat Branson Belle, has been named Restaurateur of the Year by the Springfield/Branson chapter of the Missouri Restaurant Association. Nicol was chosen from a field of 900 restaurant managers by vote of the chapter's board of directors. The award recognizes overall culinary excellence and outstanding service.

William Killian, of Killian Construction Company, has received the President's Trophy of the Associated Builders & Contractors Inc., Heart of America Chapter. The award is presented to the company with the project that most exemplifies quality, performance and teamwork. Killian Construction was recognized for its construction of the Chateau on the Lake.

Champion Products, of Strafford, has received its ISO 9001 certification, the most comprehensive of the ISO 9000 series. The designation will enable Champion, a manufacturer of sheet metal products and cabinets for the communications industry, to expand sales. Champion achieved the designation with help from MAMTC-Missouri, a program of the not-for-profit Missouri Enterprise Business Assistance Center in Rolla.

Greene County was recognized as a 1997 Groundwater Guardian Community by the National Groundwater Foundation at a recent ceremony in Chicago.

Cindy Francha, CPS, has been named 1997 Secretary of the Year by the Hawthorne Chapter of Professional Secretaries International. Francha is employed by Bolivar R-I Schools and is an active member of Professional Secretaries International, Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church, Genesis Club, Bolivar/Oak 4-H Club and Bolivar PTA.

John Doran, owner and president of Gerry Doran Homes and immediate past president of the Springfield Home Builders Association, was named 1997 Builder Member of the Year at the association's Christmas party, held Dec. 16 at Highland Springs Country Club. Acme Brick Company was named HBA Associate Company of the Year, and three people were recognized as individual Associates of the Year, including: Tom Buckner, manager of the Meek's yard at Kansas and Mount Vernon; Tom Maher, manager of the Meek's yard on Sunshine; and Glenn Hatz, manager of the Meek's yard in Nixa.
